My maternity plans are complete! What an accomplished feeling.
I see my elementary students once every three weeks for one whole week. I wanted to make my plans as easy as possible for my sub, so I created my plans to have rotating theme days for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with opening a new center once a week. My themed days are Inspiration, Exploration, Sketch, Art History, and Reflection. Inspiration, Exploration, and Reflection are the essential foundations of my students' artistic practice and process, so those three are visited every week.
Below is my August calendar that shows the rotation, and our focus for August is portraits because we have to complete the art fundraiser.
At the beginning of every week, the class starts with inspiration. I have created lessons based on how artists find inspiration, idea generation exercises, and exciting artists or materials. Students can choose to use the inspiration or find their own, of course! Students will have to log their ideas for the week on Google Jamboard.
